↑ A real Qi Men chart. Each palace stacks four layers: spirit (top left) · star · gate (the colored circle) · heaven and earth stems (top right); the outer ring of twelve branches marks directions and voids. This is exactly what you see after casting.

How it works

1. Write your question - the more specific the better. "Should I take this offer" beats "how is my career". Qi Men reads one situation at a time.

2. Cast - the chart is built from this exact moment using the Chai Bu method: nine stars, eight gates, eight spirits, heaven and earth stems, plus patterns and indicators across the nine palaces.

3. Read it - the free tier gives you the situation, the verdict and a one-line conclusion. The deep reading adds the crux, the actionable strategy, the favourable direction, and the timing.

Why you can trust the chart

The casting is a rule engine, not AI. Chai Bu method, calibrated against reference software across nine gold-standard charts - pillars, ju number, lead stem, duty star and gate, void branches and plate-level patterns all matching. Every engine change must pass all nine before it ships.

The reading translates; it does not invent. Judgements come from a rule base distilled from eight school texts. The language model turns classical imagery into plain English and is not permitted to invent Qi Men theory. Rules the texts do not settle are logged as open questions rather than filled in.

One school, stated openly. Chai Bu casting throughout, with the yang-dun Gou Chen / Zhu Que = yin-dun Bai Hu / Xuan Wu convention. Different schools produce different charts for the same instant, so the choice has to be declared.

FAQ

What can I ask a Qi Men Dun Jia reading?

It suits situational questions: should I take this offer, how do I move this negotiation, which direction is the lost item, should I speak up now, should I relocate. Qi Men reads the shape of a situation and where the openings are. For a whole-life picture, use a natal chart instead.

Do I need my birth data?

No. A question chart is cast from the moment you press the button. Adding your birth year makes the querent star track you personally, and adding a birth place enables true solar time correction, but neither is required.

Is it free? What costs credits?

Casting is always free, and the full nine-palace chart (stars, gates, spirits, heaven/earth stems, patterns) is free to view along with a basic reading. Deep readings and full natal charts consume credits; prices are shown live on the page.

Is the reading AI-generated? Is it accurate?

The chart itself is a pure rule engine, zero AI - Chai Bu casting, calibrated against reference software across nine gold-standard charts (pillars, ju number, duty star and gate, void branches, plate-level patterns all matching). The language model only translates the classical imagery into plain English; the judgements come from a rule base distilled from eight school texts. Rules the texts do not cover are logged, not invented.

How is this different from BaZi or Zi Wei Dou Shu?

BaZi and Zi Wei read the person - character, decade cycles, life trajectory. Qi Men reads the moment - who is strong, where the block is, which direction helps, when it moves. One asks about you; the other asks about the situation. This site does both.

What is the Chai Bu method?

Chai Bu is one of several ways to establish the ju (formation) - the alternatives are Zhi Run and Mao Shan. Different methods produce different charts for the same instant, so a school has to pick one. This site uses Chai Bu throughout, with the yang-dun Gou Chen / Zhu Que = yin-dun Bai Hu / Xuan Wu naming convention.

What does the timing section mean?

It tells you when the situation moves. The engine reads tomb, void and punishment states on the chart: a tomb needs the opposing palace branch to break it open, a void fills when its own branch arrives, a punishment resolves through the six-harmony branch - each maps to concrete hours, days and months, and the reading gives you the nearest ones.

Will my chart be public?

No. Your question and chart are yours alone. A share page is only created when you press share, and it shows the chart plus the one-line verdict - never your identity or the question text. Delete a chart from your archive and the share link dies with it.
